Farewell, dear Frances
Click! co-founder Frances Suzanne (Cousins) Smersh passed away on September 4th, 2021 at the age of 54, in Seattle, Washington. She died from complications of Younger Onset Alzheimer’s Disease which she was diagnosed with six and a half years prior. She is survived by her husband, John Francis Smersh of Seattle, and sister Natalie Cousins-Robledo (husband Ted Robledo, son Enzo) of Pasadena, CA. Frances was born in the Greater Los Angeles area where she lived with her mother, father, grandmother and sister. Rachel Austin, a long-time Click! favorite, is back as our featured artist for July! The show will feature new works in her signature style: vintage maps layered with boldly colored florals and bird silhouettes. These charming, hand-painted scenes mounted on wood block panels will be available in-store and online starting Thursday 7.8 for Art Walk, along with an expanded collection of prints and cards that express a love of the PNW. Ryan McAbery‘s meticulous and distinctive process combines her original photography, love of topography and crisp clean line work. Her multi-dimensional pieces begin with an original illustration, hand drawn over a topographic map which is then printed onto clear acrylic. Each image is backed with a color photograph, creating depth and literal layers for light-catching and light-weight additions to any art collection.
