One of the jewelry lines you'll find at Click! during all times of the year is Chikahisa Studio. Made right here in Seattle, the collection showcases Ann Chikahisa's organic, textural, easy to wear and perfectly weighted pieces. As part of our invitational, we've got an expanded collection of her work in store through the end of December.
How would you describe what you make?
Modern sophisticated jewelry that makes a woman feel powerful
What drew you to this medium and style of work?
I love creating small sculptural pieces that define a woman’s style and personality.
Can you tell us about your favorite piece in the current collection?
My favorite piece is the wrap necklace. It looks great with any outfit and is very versatile. I love how it makes me feel too~ sophisticated with a touch of edge. Oh and very sexy!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
To take steps forward and not worry about being perfect. It’s better done than not doing.
Can you describe your favorite part of the process in your work?
My fave part is wax carving. I get lost in the process. I let my hands just take over and try not to think about the finished product. It’s very meditative and soothing to take a solid piece of wax and create something out of nothing. And when I relax and let go, I get into a zen like space. It’s my creative high!
Is there an easter egg in any of your pieces? A detail that you particularly love that others may overlook?
It’s the touches of diamonds. I like to put them in unexpected places to add just a touch of sparkle.
