Frances Smersh "Iterations"

Click co-proprietress and creative director Frances Smersh is perhaps best known for her jewelry designs, but in the last several years her primary creative outlet has been painting, drawing, and sketching.   Having spent much of the summer doing collaborative mixed media pieces with Stephanie Hargrave, she's since immersed herself in her own studio, working in charcoal and acrylics on wood board, and reworking some older pieces into a new iteration. When she's not in her studio, she sketches. The pages of her sketchbook stand on their own as small works of art, and complement the larger paintings.  Frances's "Iterations"...

Click! co-proprietress Frances Smersh and good friend Stephanie Hargrave have been collaborating to create mixed media pieces: what might start as a line drawing is set in wax to a wood block, where further improvisations produce compositions rich in color and texture. We welcome Vivian Wang as our featured artist for August!  She'll be at Click for West Seattle Art Walk Thursday August 10th, 6–9pm.  We got to ask her a few questions to learn more about her world in 2D/3D line making.
