A Jewelry Invitational: Featuring Grace Matsumoto

A Jewelry Invitational: Featuring Grace Matsumoto

color / texture / form – a jewelry invitational: Grace Matsumoto's Tiny Fat Bird handmade jewelry is inspired by the organic shapes and textures of her native Pacific Northwest.  We chatted a bit with Grace about her successes and "failing faster": How would you describe what you make? I make limited production, ethical jewelry using my own designs & centuries-old metal smithing techniques. I take great pride in sourcing my precious metals from Hoover & Strong, a U.S. refiner of precious metals who have been supplying refining services and ethical silver, gold, and platinum for jewelers for over a century. This last year Frances has struggled with more challenges that the disease has presented, and found that art is an area that she can still thrive. While she now needs...

Anniversary Party!

Let's celebrate! Fourteen years of Design That Fits in West Seattle is a pretty good reason for a party. It was 2004 when Frances and John Smersh, touring the wholesale and retail handmade circuit with Frances's jewelry, had the realization that there were probably a lot of other people in their neighborhood who would love the work they were discovering in their travels. So they opened shop in a small space in North Admiral with a collection of goods from other designer makers. Six years later they moved Click! to the heart of the West Seattle Junction, where they continue to curate contemporary...
