We’ve often said that we live in a parallel universe with our good friend Daphne. She and her husband make jewelry together, and have opened a contemporary home furnishings store in “the other Washington” (DC). They recently bought a home on Chesapeake Bay (does that mean we we get a place in the San Juans?) which has inspired her to do a line of “botanical” jewelry, cast from the wild plants and seeds she finds on the property.

Her work is carried by many of the same shops and galleries that carry Frances’s designs, which makes sense as they have a similar, clean aesthetic. We will be featuring Daphne’s jewelry May 1 through 31, along with a few more of our favorite jewelers!

As we’ve been hinting about in our newsletter, we have something special planned for May. Beginning May 1, we will be featuring the work of five of our favorite jewelry artists (in addition to Frances). There will be an artists’ reception on Thursday, May 8, just before Mother’s Day weekend, where we will be serving cosmos and donating a portion of the jewelry sales to Northwest Hope and Healing. On a personal level, it seems natural for us to support an organization that assists women with breast cancer for Mother’s Day. It’s also exciting to get the chance to show off the work of some very amazing women!

They’re back! After the Seattle Times featured them in their Valentine’s Day gift guide, demand has been pretty high. Sure Calla Lilies are nice, but these will last well beyond Easter.

Yes it’s true. We always have the best snacks and beverages on the West Seattle Art Walk (Thursday March 13, 6–9pm), but you have to when you’re a little off the beaten path. Of course it doesn’t hurt that we’ve got some kick ass art to show as well.

Our current featured artist Brad Strain has brought us some new work that takes some of his themes of home (and a longing for home) and incorporates them with polaroid images of local urban landscapes. He also brought more paintings, which seem to be gaining quite a following.

Our own “in-house” artist is featured this month as well: Frances is introducing new colors to her cork jewelry line. Fans of Frances’s jewelry will love the way the silver and gold light up with “ocean” and “sage” — two new colors of dyed cork, as announced in our recent email newsletter. (Sign up here)

The groovy folks at Modern Twist who brought us the Amy Ruppel “Birds and Trees” table dressings are introducing new designs, including “Origami” and “Pebbles”. Made of non-toxic silicone, they are are a beautiful way to set your table.

They arrived today… Frances’s favorite are the pebbles and I suspect a set of them will follow us home.

Everyone loves the botanical cheese plates that we picked up last year, but until now we had not been able to find a suitable knife/planer set to complement them. “Mingle” is a 3-piece cheese set designed by Peter and Eva Moritz, who have had their design studio in the south of Sweden since 1998.

We love the way they look and the way they feel in your hand. (The knives that is, not Peter and Eva — although they’re not bad looking either.)

“Nestle” Nesting Tables, $548 I love the finger joint construction and gentle arched shape of these pieces. Arrange them all together as a coffee table or use them as accent tables throughout a room. At $238, the “Mimosa” Coffee table is a great deal. It’s got a lovely profile, storage for all your “must read” items and the sustainably harvested Mimosa wood is rich and buttery beautiful. I also love the long neglected fold up tray table in this line. You’ll have to come in and check it all out.

On February 14th Click! will begin participating in the West Seattle Artwalk. Come out with your sweetheart or non-sweetheart for wine, cheese and of course, art. Our premier will feature new work by artist Brad Strain. His mixed media paintings are expressive glimpses of emotion. We love them.

Sometimes New York can be closer to home than Ballard. We’ve known and loved Gwen and Anita of Three by Three Seattle for years before we ever had a store, and are so very thrilled to work with them now. Although they are based just across town, we mostly only see them at trade shows now, where they take care of us with rock star treatment, despite the fact that we must be one of their smaller accounts. This includes making sure that we are stocked with these sweet-as-pie picture frames, which are both magnetic — for sticking on your fridge (or one of their magnetic bulletin boards) — or standing alone on your sweetheart’s desk. $7

Now until February 14, any gift purchase over $30 will be embellished with ribbons and bows and dressed with an organic, fairly traded chocolate confection from local choclatiers Theo Chocolates.

Love is delicious!

As it turns out a week is not very long to take off. But we did manage to clean up a bit, and hang some new art on the walls — more on that soon.

We are just on our way home from the California Gift show and couldn’t wait to tell you about our favorite new product. As it turns out, paper is not obsolete. We frequently have people have come into Click! looking for something to carry paper files to client meetings. The ladies at Oblong have it all figured out.

These are hanging in the window at Click! right now. Classic shape, contemporary material… such a great combination. They caught my eye as I walked into the Lazy Susan booth at the New York International Gift Fair in summer. When I heard that they were constructed of recycled polycarbonate, I was sold.  Medium $134, measures 12.5 x 6″, large $152, measures 16 x 6″. Small is not currently in stock but measures 9.5″ by 6″ and can be special ordered for $115. Power cord included. 

We are so excited to go to Twilight Artist Collective’s 3 ladies + 3 years + New Location grand opening party this evening to welcome them to West Seattle! The Twilight gallery features eclectic local art including 2D work complemented by handbags, funky t-shirts, jewelry, and other great things.

The artist cooperative is all about giving artists opportunities to show their work. In fact, they have put us in touch with several of their members, whose work will be featured on the walls of Click! in the coming months.

These melamine nesting bowls have long since been one of our favorite suggestions for a hostess gift. They are now available in two new colors: brown outside, mustard inside; and white inside, robin’s egg blue outside. The original bowls have a matte finish outside which I like visually, but some people complain that it tends to show fingerprints. The new ones are gloss, which (oddly enough) seem to clean up somewhat better.

We’ve carried the Angela Adams cotton rugs and handbags since shortly after we opened, but the wool rugs are still pretty new for us, and we are completely bowled over by how they warm up the store. Her winter designs have finally arrived, and they are beautiful:

Angela takes her inspiration from nature, which is perhaps more obvious in the “birch” rug above, but also, like Frances, uses abstract forms and color for a more subtle effect.

We have sample swatches of all the wool designs so you can check the color to see if it will clash with or complement your couch!

We are also having a sale on our remaining cotton rug inventory. All cotton rugs are 20% off and the ones we have displayed on the floor are 30% off. There is even one cotton rug with a small stain that we’ve been too lazy to spot clean for 50% off… perfect if you know your pets or kids would stain it anyway!

Today we began putting stickers on things. Red means half off (holiday-related items, U+ checkers-backgammon and chess), and more… yellow means 30% off (Loom Diaper Bags and Angela Adams handbags) and blue means 20% off (most of the ceramics in the store). Also, all jewelry is 10% off.

I thought there was no way that we’d get our last order in time for the Christmas crunch, but the Envirosax folks came through for us! At $8.50 each, these bags are a great stocking stuffer. An Envirosax folds up to the about the size of a sushi roll, weighs just 1.4 ozs., and can quite comfortably hold the equivalent of two full grocery bags. Grab a few of them soon. They don’t seem to hang around Click! for long.
