The original holiday hours post has fallen pretty low on this page, so here’s an update. We are open today and tomorrow, December 22 and 23rd, 11am until 7pm. The 24th we’re staying open until 3pm, or until the guys doing their last minute shopping stop coming in, whichever comes first (last year it was around 5pm).
We’ll be closed the 25th and 26th for Christmas and Boxing Day, and will be closed again New Year’s Day (and will close early — 3pm — on the 31st).
Since we live so close to the store, we are always open on snow days!

Click! is open today, despite the weather that seems to be shutting down much of our town. So bundle up and come on down… we’ll have coffee and hot cocoa. The snow plow just went by, and cars seem to be going down California Ave with no problems. We plan to go ahead with our open house tonight, which you can read about in our newsletter (subscribe here).
Added bonus: the special tonight (scheduled from 6 to 9pm) is a $5 gift card for Mission with every purchase over $50 and 15% off all purchases over $100, but we’ve decided to make that an all day thing. No telling when we might pop that first bottle of prosecco!

As recently reported in a story in the Seattle Times, we are a drop-off site for the Women’s Shelter Jewelry Project, a program started by our former studio partner Micki Lippe. Drop off your unwanted jewelry at Click!, in any condition, and a group of jewelers from the Seattle Metals Guild will love it into shape and donate it to a number of different charities, most of which assist women who are victims of domestic violence or are otherwise disadvantaged.
As Micki says in the Times article, “Something as simple as a pair of earrings or a brooch can brighten a mood or make a woman feel special”, and this is an easy way to cheer up someone who really needs it.

The local snow flurries and chilly weather are not slowing us down. Even up here at the top of the hill, the roads are pretty clear, and it’s warm and cheery in the store.

The opening party for Megan Bailey was a huge success. Her show Length Wise came together just in time, defying every technical challenge that was put in her way. Having been told that it couldn’t be done, she blew everyone away with Crocodile, a seven piece spread in which each scale was painstakingly illustrated.

Megan’s work is about line and form, and it is about animals that are at once figurative and very literal. She started with a series of small 4″x4″ blocks, and soon found herself working larger, as in the series of Albatross images entitled “Bird Parts”:

Megan has been our graphic designer for the last year (remember our anniversary cupcake?), and we are thrilled to be hosting her first art show. She has priced the work to be very accessible, and we expect the pieces to move quickly.
If you do not live in the Seattle area, please call or email for sizes and pricing. Note that all of the images here link to larger versions.

Here at Click!, we love an excuse to throw a party. Holiday season? Heck, let’s throw three.
This Thursday, Dec. 4, will be the first of our three Late Night Thursdays. Each week we will be staying open late and serving refreshments while offering a special discount from 6 to 9pm. This week we will be giving 15% off all holiday decorations, ornaments, and cards. Everyone puts this stuff on sale after the holidays are over, but you need it now, and you need an excuse to get out of the house, have a glass of wine with us, and pay attention to what your spouse/friend/family member is not-so-subtly fawning over.

The name pretty much says it all. These cards are delightfully offensive… you probably don’t want to send one of these to your mother, but you’ve undoubtedly got a few people on your list who would appreciate them.
We’ve got singles and packs of several designs that are equally offensive, including cards for other occasions, like birthdays and new babies.

It was with some amount of hesitance that we began decorating the store for the holidays in early November. But hey — people need to have their ornaments on hand for when the decorating season officially begins, and we’re just here to help. Really.
Santa Lucia Boxed Ornament Set/27 • $42
So… ornaments. San Francisco based Roost brings us these fantastic balsa-wood snowflakes. There are three each of 9 individual designs. The bonus is that they come in a sturdy, beautiful box for festive giving and easy storage. Look for them on our holiday postcard.

Schmukka (Ornaments from Germany) • $12.50 each.
And while everyone loves snowflakes, leave it to the Germans to give us sheep, stars, angels, trees, and moose:
ornaments made simply of wood and felt. As one young customer said last weekend, “Just like Grandma, direct and to the point.” We think they also exhibit a subtle sense of humor.
Balsa Wood Trees • $36 – $56
Silver Plated Snowflakes and Garland • $30 – $38
More great design from our friends at Roost. If your abode is small and cozy — voila! Decorate one of these sweeties for the holidays and then blissfully store them at the bottom of your sock drawer for next year — they pack flat. If your dining room table will be seating 15 for a holiday meal, set a few trees on the table to welcome the spirit of the season. Note the gift boxes at the bottom in the photo — $2.50 and the perfect way to surprise someone with some Smersh Design Jewelry.

I’ve noticed that people really are shopping early this year so I’ve decided to help out by writing a series of “list” blogs, starting with this group of stocking stuffers. The art of giving the perfect gift is a difficult one to perfect, but we’re here to help. The ever popular ENVIROSAX BAG • $9.50 Open they measure 19.5″ by 16.5″, rolled up, a mere 3.5″ by 1.5″. Everyone who has one loves them. Love is good. Reusing bags is good. Give them to everyone you know. World peace will soon manifest itself all over the planet as a result of your wise and generous gifting.
BOOK DARTS • $8.50 Not just the page, mark the actual line that you want to get back to. It’s no longer necessary to beat up the poor book by bending page corners and marking it all up with those hideous highlighter colors. A nice little tin of 50 archivally correct Book Darts will make the avid readers on your list very content.
ORLA KIELY FLIP BOOKS • $5.25 Just the perfect place to jot down a few thoughts, a grocery list or the phone number of that cute guy you met at the grocery store. Interestingly, they pair up really well with any of our Orla Kiely handbags (which do not fit into the “under $10″ category).
DOG AND CAT MAGNETS • $9.00/set of four There are Dog people and there are Cat people. We have Dog magnets and Cat magnets by local designers Three by Three. Any gift that takes care of a category is useful around the holidays. We hope this “themed” gift idea helps you check a few people off your list. (FYI, we also carry lots of 3 x 3 magnet boards, hooks and picture frames. They are all reasonably priced and really cool.)
TEA LIGHTS • TAPERS • $8.50 Really a catch all gift around this time of year. We get our beeswax candles from our friends at Bluecorn Naturals in Colorado. They burn clean, come in yummy colors; Pistachio, Ruby and Creme.
There will be more handy lists to come…it’s that time of year.

Click! will be closed this Sunday, March 23rd, for Easter. We plan to spend the day with family, most especially our four-year-old nephew Enzo (check out Enzo’s dad’s blog!), who will be visiting from Southern California. If Enzo has his way, we’ll probably ride a train.
We will be open our regular weekend hours Saturday (11-5), and closed Monday.

Today we began putting stickers on things. Red means half off (holiday-related items, U+ checkers-backgammon and chess), and more… yellow means 30% off (Loom Diaper Bags and Angela Adams handbags) and blue means 20% off (most of the ceramics in the store). Also, all jewelry is 10% off.
Remember that all in-stock Angela Adams wool and cotton rugs are always 10% off, and we have several cotton “floor models” that are 25-50% off, depending on condition. And for the duration of this sale (through Jan. 20), special orders are also 10% off – see Angela’s website for styles.

In a nod to Frances’s British heritage (her dad was from England) Click! will be closed for Boxing Day, December 26. And that means we get two days off in a row, together. I know most people call that a “weekend”, but for us it’s kind of a treat. We started it with champagne.

I thought there was no way that we’d get our last order in time for the Christmas crunch, but the Envirosax folks came through for us! At $8.50 each, these bags are a great stocking stuffer. An Envirosax folds up to the about the size of a sushi roll, weighs just 1.4 ozs., and can quite comfortably hold the equivalent of two full grocery bags. Grab a few of them soon. They don’t seem to hang around Click! for long.

We are getting ready for our Late Night Thursday Finale Holiday Party and John is in the kitchen baking the famous Smersh Christmas Cookies. (I do love cooking but baking involves measuring. Not my forte. I am not allowed to bake. I get to help with frosting and the fancy, artistic red and green sprinkles.) Anyway, these Smersh Christmas cookies are awesome. The little dash of anise makes them so delicate and festive. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday and don’t forget to tell John how wonderful the cookies are.

It’s funny as a “retailer” deciding how and when to get the store looking festive for the coming celebrations of winter and the new year. When I see Christmas catalogs in September, I scream! – ask John. Yeesh…let the kids get out of their Halloween costumes! At the store we have our north window decked out and are still working on our south window. I guess we spend enough time at Click! that we get into the spirit the same way we do at home. It’s not a deadline – it’s fun! I’m really excited that we are having our Late Night Thursdays again; the 6th, 13th, and the 20th of December. My favorite Thursday last year was when we watched with a small but enthusiastic local crew, the entrance of the big storm that thrashed Seattle. Fortunately there was plenty of wine and snacks for everyone. We had a great time. (John and I were out of power at home for 4 days!) Below are the cool “5 in 1 lampshades” we have decorating our front window. ($46 not including extension cord.) They store flat and are really versatile.
